The Lions Youth of the Year program has a proud history in encouraging and fostering leadership skills in Australian students approaching the end of their high school years.

By emphasising qualities like contribution to the community and school, public speaking, academic skills, sporting and cultural involvement, Youth of the Year aims to bring forth the next generation of outstanding young Australians

Lions Youth of the Year (YOTY) is a prestigious national program for Australian high school students (aged 15–19). It aims to foster leadership, public speaking, and community engagement as students prepare for further education or employment. 

Key Features of the Program

  • Skill Development: Participants refine their interview techniques and public speaking skills through prepared and impromptu speeches.
  • Judging Criteria: Winners are selected based on academic achievement, leadership, personality, sportsmanship, and good citizenship.
  • Competition Levels: The program progresses through several stages: Club, Zone, Regional, District, State, and finally a National Final held at the Lions Australia Multiple District Convention.

Historical : Lions Youth of the Year Program has been running successfully for over 60 years.

2024 and 2025 District 201Q4 Contestants have been the National Winner.
